the dark knight

The Dark Knight finally made it to the el-cheapo theater in town, so we made a family trip there last night to see it. We also took a friend of Gracie’s and a friend of Matthew’s…the total for tickets for 7 of us plus sodas, candy and popcorn was only $50! Now you see why we waited for it to hit the cheap theater! Jim was a bit dubious…he absolutely hates long movies, and will only sit through them if they completely suck him in and hold his attention. It’s a rare movie that can do this…I think the last one was Lord of the Rings. Anyway, The Dark Knight did it, and then some. Heath Ledger was amazing as The Joker. Where Jack Nicholson’s joker was more comic and cartoonish, Heath portrayed an insane psychopath of a Joker, and the end result was incredibly creepy. I’ve seen Heath Ledger in movies before and he really pulled this off – I forgot it was Heath Ledger behind the scary makeup.

If you haven’t seen The Dark Knight yet, run, do not walk, to your local theater and do so. You won’t be disappointed.

I have been wanting to see this movie so bad and we will. We have a two year old though, so will wait till it comes out on video and watch after Logan falls a sleep. I heard it is pretty intense for younger viewers, which I figured by the trailers for the movie.
It is still so sad to me that this his Heath Ledgers last movie, that we will ever see him in. His death just seemed so unreal at the time, actually it still does to me.

  2. DARK KNIGHT kicks major ass.

Second biggest movie of all time.

    Helluva good popcorn ride.

Awesome movie. I especially enjoyed the psychological insight into Batman, which is why I like the current rendition of Batman the most. It won’t be the same without Heath Ledger as Joker…

I’m the wet rag. I didn’t think the movie was psychologically thrilling at all, and the plot left nothing unexpected. I left disappointed.

7 tickets + goodies for only $50? WHOA THAT’S AWESOME! When I went it cost around $30 a person ($18 for the ticket). Heath Ledger was really good as the Joker too. I’ll probably rent it when it comes out on DVD to see all of the extra features.

I tried getting my hubby to go see Dark Knight, but despite my girlish charms, he didn’t succumb. So now it’s passed us and we’ll have to wait til it’s out on video. Sucks to be me right now!
