superbad is not quite supergood

I love movies like American Pie and Animal House, or Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. Sex jokes, toilet humor, and zany hijinks? Sign me up! I’ve had the Superbad DVD from Netflix sitting on my entertainment unit for…oh, 3 months now, and Jim and I finally got around to watching it last night.

It was good, and I enjoyed most of it. My favorite scene was during the Home Economics class when Seth was doing naughty things out of Jules’ sight. I only wish the whole movie had been that entertaining! It got draggy more than once, especially during the long scenes with the cops. Yes Seth Rogen, I get that you wrote the movie, and it’s based on your experiences as a teen…but sheesh. The bits with Fogell and the cop went on WAY TOO LONG.

I was happy to see Joe Lo Truglio as Francis the driver – I immediately knew he looked familiar, but it was only when the credits ran that I knew him by name as one of the actors on MTV’s The State.

With that said, I am McLovin.

    that’s quite the misleading title.

I was disappointed. The hype was so huge and then it was such a let down. I think it would of suited me more about 20 years ago. When my brain was still forming.

I have two funny stories about Superbad.

1 – My coworker’s last name is Fogel. When another coworker realized what his last name was (he’s relatively new), he was all, “You’re McLovin???????” Then he Photoshopped his picture onto a Hawaii driver’s license with the McLovin name. Heh.

2 – I didn’t realize this movie was in the American Pie genre and when Rob and I were ready to watch it, Rob mentioned that Connor wanted to see it. So we called Connor and his friend upstairs to watch it with us. His friend is 16, at least… but OMG talk about uncomfortable!!! We didn’t really get to enjoy the movie too much because we were busy freaking out and FFWing.

Yes, we are America’s Top Parents, thankyouverymuch.

I laughed so much at this movie, but it left me feeling old, and realizing maybe these movies aren’t made for 40 year old women, but for teenagers LOL
