gotta get insurance

We had a blast with the new bike yesterday. We still don’t have a license or registration for it, so Jim stuck to riding it around the neighborhood only, but I even hopped on back twice to try it out. Of course, with a new bike comes the new for insurance on the bike, and possibly even a little life insurance on my husband (my mother’s suggestion – I think she was serious!), so today I’m going to be getting a few quotes online. Our current car insurance provider doesn’t cover motorcycles, so I either have a separate policy with another company or I can see if I can find a company that can cover all of our vehicles with one policy. I love that I can just hop online and get auto insurance quotes – no need to travel to a local insurance office or get on the phone and wait on hold.

I found a lot of great information on Insure.us – for starters, these articles on choosing car insurance. Car insurance is one of those things you buy, and then hopefully never worry about again, until you’ve got a claim. My husband’s car has been damaged twice since we got it. You may recall I got hit in the parking lot of the post office, and last month, my husband hit a deer. Luckily, our insurance came through for us both times, and the process of filing a claim and getting the car repaired was quick and relatively painless. Aside from that $500 deductible – ouch! This article points out that you can check on any insurance company by looking at their J.D. Power and Associates grade, or by logging onto the website for your state’s department of insurance. I never even thought about doing that – but it makes sense, especially if the premium prices offered by the company are too good to be true.

We’re also shopping for homeowners insurance, and while I did find a good deal locally, I’m always up for saving even more money, so I think we’ll submit our info for a quote on that here, and see if any of the companies online can beat the quote we’ve got already.

Other articles have information on life insurance, money saving tips, insurance lingo & definitions, and the different insurance types available to US consumers. You can also get online quotes from a variety of companies by submitting your information.
