wet fundraiser

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

We couldn’t have picked a worse day for our fundraiser – weather wise. It was cold and damp out all day. I do think it had something to do with the amount of traffic we saw. It didn’t help that my oldest got sick and couldn’t come to help us out. I really believe a lot of people just can’t say no to a kid, and she rakes in the donations! She was so disappointed. In the end, we collected $352, so $176 for each of us. We got several donations of $20 from people, including one guy who whipped out his checkbook on the spot and wrote a check for us.

We stuck it out for 4 hours and then I came home to a nice hot shower – but I’m still shivering. (Hope I’m not getting the bug that Catherine has!) Jim is going out tonight to watch Ultimate Fighting at a friends house, so I’m going to watch my shows and snuggle on the couch with Lola.

cold, wet…think warm thoughts

I’m off for a couple of hours of fundraising outside of a local grocery store. It’s cold. It’s damp. And my kid is sick. It was super hard to leave my warm bed this morning…but duty calls! Raising this money for the 3-Day is more important than sleeping in.

fundraiser tomorrow

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

My sister and I (as well as my best training buddy – my daughter!) will be out at the Publix in Wesley Chapel tomorrow at 10am to beg our hearts out for 3-Day donations. If you’re in the area, it’s the store in HollyBrook Plaza at Bruce B. Downs and SR 54. It should be busy since it’s the day before the big game, so hopefully that will translate into more money for us. If you’d like to make a donation, come on out and see us, or visit my online donation center to contribute.
