insert witty comment about haircut here

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

I broke up with my former hairstylist today…she just doesn’t know it yet. I’d grown increasingly frustrated with the job she was doing and the corners she was cutting, so I made an appointment at a high end place near work. Holy shit, what a difference. Scalp massage? Back massage? Arm and hand massage while I have a hot towel on my head with a conditioning treatment? And all of that for the same price I’ve been paying my regular stylist all along.

I was so happy, I tipped the new stylist 35%! Now, if she’s just come over to my house 3 or 4 times a week and do my hair for me, I’d be set for life.

what a difference 16 years makes

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

I was going through old blog posts here this morning in an effort to organize a few things, and came across my birthday countdown from last year – the one with a LOT of old pictures of me. When I spotted my graduation picture from 1993, I knew I had to do this with it:

grad 93 09

At the left, me at 16 after my high school graduation in 1993. At the right, me at 32 after my college graduation in 2009. I just did the math in my head and realized that I doubled in age between these two pictures….damn!

did you see me on tv?

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Nope? Me either.

Apparently people in Boise and Buffalo saw me, but in my local market, my segment was replaced by a paid segment. (Probably the lawyer who talked to the host while his URL was flashing at the bottom of the screen?) Ironic that a segment about a Tampa girl on paid blogging and making money online was bumped for a paid segment?

I’m currently in negotiations to get a copy of the show with ME on it.

i’m going to be on tv tomorrow!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Two important things should be noted about tomorrow:

1. It’s my birthday, and I will be twenty-thirteen.

2. I am going to be on a local morning show to talk about sponsored blogging and Izea! It’s the second time I’ll have ever been on TV. My television debut was at the ripe old age of 4 on Romper Room. I’ll actually be on the very same TV channel (WFLA – Channel 8 in Tampa) tomorrow morning on the Daytime show. The show airs from 10am until 11am, and I’m scheduled to go on around 9:30, so set your DVR’s!

*Edited to add: I just returned from taping my segment – it will air on THURSDAY, not today as I thought.

middle name meme

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

This middle name meme jumped out at me when I saw it on Amy’s blog – I love my middle name, so I had to play.

The Rules:

1. You have to post these rules before you give the facts.

2. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.

3. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog post containing your own middle name game facts.

4. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

My middle name is Catherine.

C – My first and last name begin with C, so I’m C-Cubed. C to the 3rd power. Me to the Three.

A – Is for Ass, and mine is sweet.

T – 13 begins with T, and it’s my favorite number.

H – Hot is what it is here in Florida.

E – E is the first letter of my 2nd child’s middle name, which is Erin.

R – is for right handed, which I am not. But 2 of my kids are!

I – I love ice cream, but I don’t eat as much as I used to.

N – Nice, that’s what I am. Just plain nice! (Disagree, and I’ll kick your ass)

E – is for egghead – I’m kind of a geek.

I’m tagging you, you, and you.

starbucks oracle

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

I saw this Starbucks quiz on Amy’s blog and had to do it. See, I’m not a coffee drinker, at all. When I go to Starbucks, I order a Grande Black Iced Tea with sugar, no lemon. What does that say about me?

High Maintenance: You pride yourself on being assertive and direct; everyone else thinks you’re bossy and arrogant. You’re constantly running your mouth about topics that only you would find interesting. Your capacity for wasting other people’s time is limitless. Your friends find you intolerable, that’s why they’re plotting to kill you.

Also drinks: Water. Bottled, chilled, with four ice cubes, a twist of lemon, in a crystal glass.

Can also be found at: Trendy martini bars

almost 31…

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Less than an hour to go til my 31st birthday! Technically, I won’t be 31 until 7:50 tomorrow night, because that’s the time stamped on my birth certificate. We’re having a party with friends on Saturday night, and tonight my friends surprised me with cake, and my mom is taking me to lunch tomorrow. While I’m busy whooping it up, amuse yourself with my birthday countdown from 2006, which contains plenty of pictures of me in my days of youth.
