School starts on Monday for the kids. (Actually, it starts on Monday for Jim and I as well!) Since Catherine is going into the 7th grade, she wanted a new “look” and I mentioned a perm for her hair. She was a little dubious at first, with visions of Little Orphan Annie hair swimming in her head, but she decided to give it a try.

Today I took her to my salon for what turned into a 4 hour hair appointment. She had it cut, permed, and then had her eyebrows waxed for the first time ever! (She’s got her dad’s eyebrows, which could either be a blessing or a curse. They’re a curse if you don’t want to wax or pluck, but I say better to have too much and be able to remove hair than to have to draw fake eyebrows on, like a little old lady.) Anyway…she looks amazing. Her hair is fabulous, and what a difference on her face with her eyes being so opened up due to the eyebrow wax!

Here’s a before picture of Catherine, taken on our vacation last week, and one I look just a few minutes ago:

Big difference, right?

Wow! She is so grown up! I’d lock her away in her room and not let her out until she was 21! LOL. Hope her first day goes really, really well.

Whoa, dude! I’m gonna cry! My eyes are literally tearing up - she looks so gorgeous, Colleen!! And yeah, that locking her up thing - I’d totally look into it! Hey, the boy in the plastic bubble did just fine going to school via live feed. Seriously.

She’s adorable, completely adorable! Did they put some color in her hair, too - or is it just the difference in lighting?

Oh yeah, and what kind of perm is that? Sam and I both would like a perm, but, we really want it to body wave-ish like that. And every time I’ve ‘tried’ getting a ‘body wave’ - it looks like a kinky curly perm.

Oh wow, I love her hair! She looks great!!! And she does look so much more grown up.

Wow. She is so beautiful.

I have no idea that perms could look so good– I can remember my one and only and I looked like a frizzball was on my head instead of hair.

She is beautiful in both pictures. The new hair makes her look more sophisticated. How do they grow up so quickly?

I was with my 13 year old grandson this weekend and it seems like he was onlly five yesterday. I see you celebrate each moment…even wheni it takes four hours.

Your a great mom….with a lovely daughter enjoy..
