Jim and I had a date today.

I knew he was off work, so last week I scheduled a sick day for myself. *Cough cough* We started off our day by carting the kids to the county clerk’s office so we could submit passport applications for the kids. Technically, they won’t need passports for our cruise this summer (right now you only need them for air travel) but better to be safe than sorry…and they WILL need them in 2009.

After we proved that the kids were our legal children and that Jim wasn’t planning on kidnapping them and running away to another country, we dropped them off at school. We made a quick stop at home and dropped off the SUV and pulled out the motorcycle. Jim has been using it a lot to commute to work given the cost of gas, but it had been a long time since we went for a ride together. We drove around town and some quiet country rodes, ate lunch, and then stopped at the bike shop. While Jim was drooling over new bikes, I picked out a new helmet. My current helmet (umm, I guess it’s the old helmet at this point) didn’t have a face shield and speeds over 45 MPH were making me miserable. Riding the bike is no fun if your eyes are watering from the wind and you can’t hear anything over the noise of the wind in your ears. I won’t even mention the lovebug that hit my cheek.

Anyway, I bought a new helmet with a face shield and we headed home - what a freaking difference! Jim got the bike up to 65 MPH so I could see the difference and it was much more pleasant. I’m hoping he’s got another day off next week when I’m off for my extended Memorial Day weekend so that we can take a longer ride. I’d like to head out onto some of the winding back roads north of Tampa and hit our new favorite Mexican restaurant, Pancho Villa.

I love riding. Still haven’t got a brain bucket for Nichole yet, but hopefully before this weekend. We want to go riding for Memorial Day and over to her parent’s cookout. Have fun. Riding is a blast, especially on those winding roads.

Big negative on the Walmart helmits. Just bought Nichole’s for $186. Its pretty with flowers and all kinds of colors and what not. The one I want is a Shoei for $600. Not going to happen. But there are some nice ones like for around $200.
