Remember back in the day, when we all had a Geocities or Tripod homepage, and someone would present your site with an award? In return for the gift of an ugly .gif image, you’d link back to their site…hmm…what’s in it for you? An ugly image on your site and an outgoing link?
Web awards have changed a lot in the past 10 years, and now they’re a BIG DEAL. I’ve read about several sites being nominated for The Webby Awards, but I was only familiar with one site on the list - Lifelock. Apparently the little identity theft company that could is making a big name for themselves both online and off. And while it’s true that Lifelock didn’t win the award this year, it’s also true that just being nominated is an honor!
“As a company that relies heavily on our website to communicate the importance of our service and enroll members, we’re extremely honored to be nominated for this prestigious award,” said LifeLock CEO Todd Davis. “A very large percentage of our new members enroll through our website, so it’s important that we have something that is functional, informative and secure. Our website team works around the clock and I’m proud that they get this recognition.”
If you haven’t heard of Lifelock yet, you will. I’ve seen ads online and off with CEO Todd Davis displaying his social security number - he’s THAT confident in his companies abilities to protect customer’s identities. Think you’d like to work with a guy like that? You’re in luck - Lifelock is hiring! The only catch is you’ve got to be in, or willing to relocate, to Tempe, AZ.
