I’ve had this post in draft status for months! I initially wrote it as a reaction to a situation, and then thought, I didn’t want people to read too much into my words and think I was pointing fingers. I’ve thought about posting it several times since, and I’m finally pressing the submit button today…

Have you ever…

If she only…

What a…

Doesn’t he…

Ever notice that the people who need to hear what you have to say the MOST won’t listen? No matter what you say, no matter how many logical arguments you make, you can’t change the mind of someone like that. Ever met someone with a chip on their shoulder? No matter how you approach a subject, they’re determined to make YOU the bad guy. It’s not a fun position to be in, but it’s a good chance to see how patient you can be. A little method I’ve been using lately to deal with people like this is to remain calm, cool, and collected. It just seems to piss people off further that you don’t get as mad as they are. If you have to deal with someone like this, it helps to think of them as being a farm animal. Go ahead - picture a pig, or a cow, ranting and raving and carrying on, having a hissy fit. It’s kind of funny, isn’t it?

(Remember - smile! It makes people wonder what you’re up to.)

One Response to “dealing with idiots”

  1. On April 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am Tara had this to say...

The more they try to get you to be angry, the more you remain ‘unmoved’ by their stupid comments/ accusation.

I have to deal with people who dont have an opinion of their own. If someone says, this is black, she goes “yes, yes yes, it is black.” Another person comes along and says, no it is grey, she goes “yes yes yes it is grey.”

After some time, I just couldnt trust a single sh*t she said. sigh
