While we were in Amsterdam last month, I got sucked into watching 10 or so episodes of That 70’s Show, all in a row. I got sick one night with congestion and a cough, so I stayed in over tromping about in the rain through the red light district. The only thing on TV in English was the Dutch version of Comedy Central, which featured That 70’s Show and South Park. I’ve seen episodes of That 70’s Show before, but I didn’t watch them regularly, and after watching all of those episodes in a row, I was hooked. I’m DVR’ing episodes now and watching them, but it’s driving me nuts since they’re out of order. The episodes at 11pm each night are in order, but the episodes at 11:30 are from a later season - drives me crazy!
Anyway, the whole point of this entry is that I was looking up the guest starts of a particular episode online and came across some interesting trivia. The site said that Kurtwood Smith, who played the dad, Red Foreman, won the role only after Chuck Norris declined it. Yes, you read that right - Chuck Norris was up for the role of the dad on That 70’s Show. He declined due to his filming commitment with “Walker, Texas Ranger”. I just can’t picture Chuck Norris as Red Foreman, can you? Kurtwood Smith is the perfect guy for the role!
