First off, if you're paying for that class, you have the right to have proper instruction. Reading the book and doing exercises is NOT proper instruction. Also when you set up a session of tutoring for statistics then they should be making darn sure to provide a tutor who does that. Period. I’d be making a serious complaint about that. I was studying a post grad linguistics course through correspondence at one Australia's biggest and most respected University. All the course information and material was online and prepared but the tutor did not want to answer any quesions that were emailed to him or put on the course message board. He argued that we were post grad students so we should have been able to work things out for ourselves. It was enormously frustrating! I’ve had this sort of experience too.
