If you’ve been reading this site for any length of time, you’ve probably already read about my fundraising efforts for the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk in Orlando last year. I’ve had Alzheimer’s affect someone in my life, so I know all too well what a horrible disease it is…not only for the Alzheimer’s patient, but for the family as well.

Due to my involvement with the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, I was sent a DVD they produced called “Your Time To Care”. This four part DVD set is available for purchase from the foundation, and it’s designed to educate family, friends, and caregivers about how to provide the best care and quality of life for the Alzheimer’s patient. After watching this DVD, I can tell you how important it is for everyone who loves someone with Alzheimer’s to watch this series. Not everyone is able to visit with a medical professional to learn more about this disease, or research more information online. This DVD can provide you with an overview of Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as how to help the patient through the disease. You’ll learn about problems typically faced by patients, and how to overcome issues with the least possible conflict to the patient and the family. Learn how to make a home safe for someone with Alzheimer’s, and how to treat an Alzheimer’s patient with the dignity he or she deserves, despite this debilitating disease.

This DVD, along with other products, is available from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America online. While it may be too late to get this as a holiday gift for someone you know, it’s still a great product to purchase to educate yourself or someone you know on how to cope.
