Gone With The Wind was on Turner Classic Movies recently, so I decided to DVR it and watch the whole movie, in it’s entirety. GWTW is one of those movies that I can get into even if I start watching it in the middle, which is probably why I’ve seen so many bits and pieces of it! I had only seen the movie from start to finish once though, so I was due.

It’s funny to watch the movie, knowing it was so big budget for the time in which it was made, and that the special effects were the best ever. As the carriages and wagons turn into Twelve Oaks for the BBQ, you can see them disappearing, because it was a special effect designed to make the fake backdrop of Twelve Oaks look real. The fire in Atlanta was a special effect as well, and when I watch it, even though it looks incredibly fake, I’m impressed because the movie was made back in 1939, and those special effects were cutting edge then. The movie cost $3.9 million to produce!

Tomorrow is another day…

You should be here during the week of Clark Gable’s birthday one year. His hometown is about 30 miles away and puts on a whale of a show. Personally, I prefer “Wizard of Oz,” probably because the effects are so much better. And Garland is a MUCH better actress!

I LOVE this movie, have seen it, in it’s entirety, minimum 10 times! And, I can turn it on at any part and finish watching, recite lines, etc….I’ve actually read the book, and it is much better than the movie.
