I got this email last night - it was a joint collaboration from my 8 year old son, and my 10 year old daughter. I love that they email me, and then come to tell me they’ve emailed me, and that I should check my email and reply immediately.

HOW COME WE CAN’T CALL YOU MOM? DADDY LETS US CALL HIM DAD AND WE CAN’T BE YOUR LITTLE SNUGGLE BUNNY, SNUGGLE BEAR , AND SNUGGLE BUG FOREVER. WHAT I’M SAYING IS THAT WHEN CAN WE START CALLING YOU MOM? ALSO ALL OUR FRIENDS CALL THEIR MOM’S MOM. SO PLEASE TELL US WHE WE CAN START CALLING YOU MOM.

P.S: MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE .

I love how they threw in a little threat at the end of the email!

LOL - that is so cute. My oldest calls me Mommy always. Even in front of his friends.

Lordy. Did you laugh, cry, or both when you read this???

They are so heartbreakingly cute I can’t even stand it.

Mine started calling me mom a few years ago… but now the teenager has started calling me mommy again on ocassion. LOVE IT. They used to call me mama though, and I loved that even more.

I replied to their email with a typical mom response -

“Because I’m the mommy, that’s why!”

And I reminded them that even when they were grown up, they’d still be my babies!

Aww, that’s too adorable for words!! I only call my mom Mommy when I want something. Or my dad… it usually goes “Daddy?” “No!” “But you don’t even know what I’m going to say!” hehe

That is just too cute. My kids never seem to make up their minds what to call me. I get a mixture, mom, mommy, mama, Loretta (little mister independent free spirit likes to call people by their first name) …. as long as whatever they call me ends in a hug I’m usually okay with it.

We call my mom Bird. That’s her nickname.

I still call my parents Mommy & Daddy. My brother only uses those terms when talking to me or his wife but calls them Mom, Ma, Dad, etc.

MM calls me Mom in front of her friends and in general conversation. When she’s snuggling or wants something, etc. she reverts to Mommy. She usually addresses her cards and gifts to Mommy as well. She started this a couple years ago when she got too old to be kissed goodbye when I dropped her off at school. She outgrew that and now hugs and kisses me all the time, but still won’t call me Mommy infront of friends if she can help it.
