Heartless hater of the holidays? Or practical, to a fault? You decide, after you read what I wrote about $21,000 worth of Christmas trees being sent to Iraq.

I agree with ya. That’s freaking dumb. Our men and women in the service need lots of things, but trees are certainly the last thing on a soldier or marines’ Christmas wish list. That money would be better spent on sending real comfort items.

IMHO a Christmas tree is a real comfort item. When you’re in a place that looks nothing like home and feels nothing like home and then something arrives that is exactly like what would be at home it’s a morale booster. As big a boost as a package of cookies or individual packets of PowerAde.

Sometimes the biggest morale boosts are the unexpected things.

I am just not a fan of the whole cutting down of a live tree for the purpose of decorating it for a month. I would much rather plant one in my back yard…which is what I do. Every year I plant another blue spruce! Decorate it outside for all to enjoy!
