I’ve been watching a new show on Bravo called “Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style”. I didn’t know who Tim Gunn was until I flew JetBlue and watched 4 episodes of Project Runway. I can see why he’s got his own show - he’s so charming and positive! Anyway, one of the recurring bits on his show is that his co-host, Veronica Webb, will go through the underwear and lingerie of the woman that they are assisting. The episode I saw this week didn’t go as smoothly as the other episodes, because the woman freaked OUT at the thought of her big ole panties being seen on national TV by people that she worked with. Tim and Veronica did however, talk her into doing it (in a bit more off camera way) and she still got to go lingerie shopping with Veronica Webb.
The lingerie shopping they do on the show is something that simply couldn’t be done in the area where I live. Veronica and the fashion victim walk through some charming downtown area and stop in a little boutique that sells nothing but pretty panties and frilly lingerie, complete with a little old lady to measure you for a proper fit. My options are Victoria’s Secret, Fredrick’s, or the department stores. However, if you’re willing to shop online, you can find the same designer panties featured in these style shows and in magazines online - you just have to know where to shop!
Hanky Panky Panties, like the ones shown here, are similar to what I’ve been buying from another catalog, but they’re half the price. It makes sense when you think about the other catalog spending all kinds of money on hiring models like Tyra and airbrushing the heck out of their models. These girls actually look like people you’d see on the street, with real bodies and thighs and not airbrushed to perfection. Hanky Panky’s Signature lace low rider is made of stretch lace and is only $16! Or how about Mary Green panties? I love the cut of their silk hip hugger boy thong. You can get these and other boutique brands at ShopBarbara.com, a site that caters to those of us who want more style and options than the department stores can offer. The site is easy to navigate and offers bras, panties, sleepwear, shoes, accessories, and clothing. You’ll find brands like Spanx, Chantelle, and Code Vintage, and styles that are a bit more cutting edge and in tune with the latest fashions than the mall can provide you with.
