four eyes for me

I took a few hours off work yesterday to go to the eye doctor. I continue going to this office, even though it takes me 40 minutes to get there, because the doctor there is the guy I attribute with saving my vision when I had my corneal ulcer. After going through that ordeal, I don’t trust my eyeballs to anyone else. It’s a pain in the ass though, because the office is only open Monday through Friday, 9am til 5pm. Basically, the hours I need to be at work, so going there requires taking a few hours of personal time off. I don’t mind doing it once a year, but it really irks me that their little optical store has the same hours, so when I need to pick up my glasses in a week, I’ll need to take more time off work to do so.

And speaking of the glasses – yes, it’s another year of being 4-eyes for me. I inquired about Lasik, and while I’m a candidate, it would run me $4000. (I could probably pay less somewhere else, but I don’t like the idea of having a “discount eye doctor” fix my eyes. It’s really not something I want to get on clearance, if you know what I mean.) I’d rather keep wearing glasses and put that money towards a kick ass vacation or something. Maybe I’ll open a flexible spending account and put some money towards Lasik each pay period? As far as the glasses themselves, I didn’t see any frames I liked, so I ordered the exact same frames I’m already wearing. Yes, I’m blind AND boring.

I got LASIK like two years or so ago and wouldn’t trade it for ANYTHING! I wore glasses/contacts for 20 years and was so done.

We must have the same vision (or lack of) too, that’s what mine cost. Almost made me sick to write that check but like I said, TOTALLY worth it.
