In just one week from today, all of the kids will be back in school. This Friday, we’ll be attending their open houses, which means we’ll be meeting their new teachers, finding their new classrooms, and dropping off the school supplies we’ve purchased for each kid. Oh – did I mention the open house is on Friday? Apparently that’s the date for the whole county – Friday morning, every school. Really catering to those working parents, folks! What happens if you have to work? Do your kids miss the open house and get to wander around aimlessly on Monday morning because they don’t know where to go? What happened to scheduling events like that in the evening so that both parents can attend?
I’m going to take a few hours off to attend. We’re hoping for a better teacher for the boy this year (and a chimpanzee would be an improvement over last years teacher) and for the girls to make some friends in their new schools.

That’s pretty crappy about the date, but I LMAO at the chimpanzee remark.
It seems more and more of these things are scheduled during the day. I think it’s the school’s way of making sure they don’t have a huge turnout. My husband usually has to rearrange his work schedule , if not take the day off, to attend school functions. Sheesh!
