I don’t like going to the doctor.

There’s just something about sitting half naked in a cold room, being poked and prodded by a stranger, that I don’t like. I got completely turned off doctors after being pregnant 3 times in 4 years and spending WAY too much time in a hospital for pre-term labor, and after having a few too many fingers pricked for my gestational diabetes. I don’t know what my cholesterol level is, I don’t know if I’m anemic, and I’ve got allergies – but who knows to what?

And honestly? I know when I have a urinary tract infection, or even a yeast infection. You deal with those things for enough years, and you don’t need someone with an M.D. after his name to take your $40 copay and confirm what you already knew. Wouldn’t it be neat if there was some kind of test for those things you could do at home, and then just fax your doctor the results to get a prescription? Well, there IS something like that, from a company called Home Health Testing®. Not only do they offer all of the tests that can be done in a doctors office or lab, for YOU to perform at home, but they also offer drug testing kits that are in high demand from parents. I’m more interested in the basics – like diagnosing what I’m allergic to.

Before you go thinking this isn’t legit – all of these tests are FDA cleared. Some of the tests can provide you with instant results, and other require that you take a sample at home and mail it to a certified lab to receive your results. Either way, it’s probably faster than seeing your doctor…last time I was sick and called for an appointment, I was told they could see me in two weeks! I think this is going to be BIG.
