I love movies with potty humor. Fart jokes, sight gags involving bodily functions, crude language – count me in! Superbad is no exception. It received a R rating from the Motion Picture Association of America for:

pervasive crude and sexual content, strong language, drinking, and some drug use – all involving teens

Score!

Don’t get me wrong though. While Superbad has been built on a foundation of crude humor, it’s also a tender coming of age movie about two young friends heading off to college separately. Eva is the meeker of the two, and Seth is…well, obsessed with sex. (Aren’t most 18 year old boys?) Superbad is less about the boys heading off to college and more about the duo trying to make it with the ladies before leaving for school. (I love movies where the characters set goals for themselves!)

The creators of Superbad are Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. You’ve probably seen Seth in The 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, and Evan is his writing partner. I’ve seen 40-Year Old Virgin, and if Seth and Evan can do for teenaged boys what they did for a 40 year old virgin, I’m in.
