After I co-hosted on Mr. Fab’s radio show a few weeks ago, several people suggested to me that I should hold my own show, including Mr. Fab. I thought about it for a while and said, what the heck?! It’s free, and it’s fun, so I’ll do it till it’s no longer fun.
So please tune in tonight for the first episode of The Colleenie Weenie Show! It will start at 6pm eastern time tonight. (I tried for a nice Sunday evening slot, but you’ve got to host a few times before you can take up prime time. You can call into the show by calling (646) 716-7564 anywhere between 6pm and 7pm tonight, and you can also IM me (user name: colleen_cc) during the show using Yahoo to have your comments read on the air.
Oh, and Mr. Fab has graciously agreed to be a guest tonight, to not only soothe my nerves but to assist if I run into any technical issues.
Please, join us!

A few months ago when we went to Disney, we had the pleasure of eating at Ohana. Good stuff there, but the best was the dessert. It was bread pudding with ice cream and bananas Foster sauce. TO DIE FOR! I don’t even like bananas. I don’t eat them, I don’t like banana flavored anything, and I barely tolerate anything containing banana, even treats and banana bread recipes that friends swear by!
So you can imagine my surprise when I lapped up the sauce and asked for seconds. We tried to go back to the restaurant the next time we were at Disney, but it was booked. Now I’ve got a wicked craving for the dessert, and I’ve used Google to track down a recipe for the Disney version, but I’m a little dubious about trying to make it myself. A chef, I am not.

Since the boy is back into regular hockey games now, we’ll be practicing (or rather, Jim will be practicing) with him at home. How can we practice at home for ice hockey? Easy - a pair of rollerblades, his stick, and a tennis ball! Jim doesn’t have inline skates, so he keeps up on foot. Matthew actually just outgrew his rollerblades that we gave him for Christmas 2 years ago, so it’s time for a new pair. I don’t have a clue what to look for as far as features and such, but this site, 123skate.com is huge online for buying rollerblades and heelys. And, they’re right down in Miami. Local boys! Mmm….local surfer boys, even better!

The boy had tryouts for his hockey league tonight. They’ll continue for another two weeks - we’ve got to go back tomorrow afternoon, and then again in 2 weeks, and then he’ll be placed onto a team and will get the schedule for games. I always thought those soccer moms sitting out on the field in the sun and 90 degree heat were nuts, and now I’m about to be a hockey mom. Huddled on the bleachers at the rink, freezing my rear off!

You know what’s fun?
A dog with intestinal issues. Even more fun when it’s the BIG dog. So I’m not just cleaning up messes on the floor, I’m cleaning up big messes. Ewww! She’s trying to alert me when she doesn’t feel good, and I’ve gotten her outside in time a few times, but other times…well…
The paper towels and Clorox spray are staying out tonight!

I’ve been to the Bahamas. I’ve been to Mexico, and Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Where haven’t I been? Bermuda! We’ve looked into going several times, but it just never worked out. It’s on my list of things to see though, and this Bermuda guide is a great source of info. I’m all about researching the places I’m going to, BEFORE I get there, so that I know what to see, and what to skip. I did it for our trip to Canada and we found a lot of neat places to eat and see because of it!
Let’s face it - there are good and bad experiences to be had everywhere. Would you rather have a good vacation, or a bad vacation? Well, duh. The difference between a good trip and a bad trip is as easy as researching before you go to find out what the best places are to dine, what tourist attractions to see, and what hotels give you more bang for your buck. The Bermuda guide will help you find activities to do on your trip (how about chartering a boat to the reef?), or the best way to get to Bermuda. Need a place to stay? Read up and review hotels in Bermuda and all inclusive resorts in Bermuda there too!
And here’s something I noticed about this guide - they’re honest! The accommodations article points out that Bermuda isn’t cheap, and they explain what you can expect to pay for a nice hotel room on the island, as well as the taxes and tipping to expect, and the fees for extra guests or children in your room. That’s good to know, because getting to the island and finding out that you’re paying more than expect for everything could also ruin your vacation.

I’ve been DVRing and watching The Wonder Years for a few months now. Actually, 2 months - I just looked to see when I first blogged about it. So in 2 months, with 2 episodes a night, weekdays - I’ve seen them all? It seems like there were more episodes than that. Did I get shorted?
Anyway, I’ve got the finale on my DVR, and they’re starting the series over again, so if you missed it, you can start watching from day 1. The finale is one of my all time favorite episodes, because they tell you what happened to everyone down the road. Yes, I will cry. Deal with it!
