I’m an equal opportunity blog whore. While I have made the bulk of my blog earnings with PayPerPost, that hasn’t stopped me from exploring the other options available to me. I’m registered with ReviewMe, and Blogitive, and Blogsvertise, and Sponsored Reviews, and just about every other paid to blog system out there. I don’t work them all as much as I work with PayPerPost, but I’ve got a basic knowledge of how each works, and my potential to make money with each.
Anyway, PayPerPost did a big release this week, and they started something called PPP Direct. In addition to logging into PayPerPost and finding opps to write about, you can now paste a badge on your site and allow advertisers to find YOU. For being the middle man in this transaction, PayPerPost takes only a small 10% fee - and the nice part is, they don’t take it on your cut. Rather, they put it on as a markup so the advertiser pays that. It’s actually quite similar to the Sponsored Reviews and ReviewMe systems, with the exception that it’s not promoted ON the PayPerPost site. By that I mean, there’s no way for an advertiser already logged into PayPerPost to review blogs using PPP Direct and select them there. An advertiser has to be at your site to do this. I should add here that I liked the ReviewMe concept as soon as it came out, but I’ve had maybe….3 offers there? And I’ve done one. As an advertiser (and I am an advertiser on PayPerPost), I’d never consider using ReviewMe, because I know that half of my money goes right into their pocket. In fact, I never even advertised that I could be hired for ReviewMe on my blog - I’d rather have someone contact me directly and we both decide on what’s a fair price.
So why should you use PPP Direct? The escrow feature is one good reason. The advertiser will probably feel better about paying via escrow, and you get your money a few days after you make your post. I’ve always collected money for posts and advertising up front, but I don’t mid waiting 4 days either. For me, this is just one more way I can get paid to blog. I hope that all of the advertisers on PayPerPost take a look out there at blogs that have written well for them in the past, to see what we can do for them in the future.
