You all know I’m a real estate nut, right? If the market weren’t so stinky right now, I’d be going to real estate school. Open houses and MLS listings and contacts make me hot. LOL! I love to watch those shows like House Hunters that give you a little sneak peek into the real estate market in other areas. For the longest time, they only featured properties and buyers in California, but now they’re expanding and even show international listings. At any rate, it peaked my interest. I know of a few bloggers who live in Hawaii, and had a friend just visit there - it’s one of the few states I haven’t been to yet, but I sure would like to! All it takes is a few episodes of Magnum P.I. to get me thinking about the island life, but I’ve heard that real estate (among other things) is very over priced in Hawaii. I visited this site offering Hawaii real estate to see how Hawaii stacks up against my home state of Florida.
HawaiiLife.com is a neat search engine that features nothing but real estate, and it maps every single property available in the MLS of Hawaii, using Google Maps. Now, having shopping for homes before, that is a feature that EVERY real estate site should have. How many times have you seen a listing that looked great, but you found out when you went to look at it that the neighborhood, or the street, or the block was less than desirable? I’ve done that, plenty of times. Having a map feature like the one on HawaiiLife ensures that you’re only looking at the listings in the locations you want to be in. You’re not waiting your time, or your agents time looking at things that aren’t where you want to be.
Right now, the site features listings for Kauai real estate and Big Island real estate. (That would be the island of Hawaii for us mainlanders). Next month, listings will be added for Maui and Oahu. From the main page of the site, you can click on your island choice and browse all of the listings (complete with snapshots right on the main page of listings - love that!), as well as sort by price , neighborhood, and the # of bedrooms. Or use the search function at the top of the page to narrow down your search. Completely user friendly, and the interface is much nicer than sites like Realtor.com. The MLS listings are updated daily, so you can window shop without bugging a realtor. The mapping really lets you narrow down your search area, and the site also features articles for potential homebuyers, designed to inform and educate about the home buying process.
I’m ready to move

I like the photos too. I’ve been searching for real estate on Kauai, and this site seems helpful. They seem to have a lot more properties than other major sites too. I’m hoping to buy a home in Princeville. Gotta save that money!
