You may not have noticed, but the pagerank of this blog increased from a 4 to a 5 with the last Google update. Now the pressure is on for me to keep that pagerank, keep my traffic going up, and keep bringing in new readers. That’s ok, I like pressure, and I seem to thrive under pressure, but this is somewhat new territory for me. I never even knew about pagerank until last year. I never card about it, or my traffic, or how many people were reading my blog….but over the past year, as my traffic and comments increased, I discovered that I liked it. And I want to work to keep it.

One thing I heard about is a service called Zookoda. You may have heard of the company - in fact, PayPerPost recently acquired the company, so I expect we’ll be hearing a lot more from them. What Zookoda has is an email marketing application specifically for bloggers. With this blog email program you can keep in touch with the readers you have who aren’t subscribed to your feeds. But wait Colleen, you say, doesn’t everyone use feeds? Good question - I didn’t start using a feed reader until last year, and I’ve been blogging for 4 years, and on the internet for 10.

And Zookoda is so much more than just a feed summary of your recent posts. You can create personalized newsletter subscription forms and design your newsletters to match your blog theme - talk about branding! Which stands out more, a plain jane email newsletter, or one that completely matches the theme of your blog? What a great way to keep your visitors coming back for more!

So who is using it? What do you think?

You’re doing a good job. You will handle it very well if you want my opinion. :)

I am myself making good progress, not a caveman blogger anymore. lol

Have a nice day, and see you in Montreal next June! ;)

I’ve used it before I believe it was included with my hosting package. They give me a lot of goodies. It was nice.
Congrats on the PR! Mine went down to a 4. It used to be a 5. I never paid attention to my PR until a few weeks ago.

It’s something you have to sign up for to get the emails from the bloggers. Note the bit I wrote about “subscription forms”. I wouldn’t ever spam my visitors.
