I watched the premiere of the new NBC show “Thank God You’re Here” on Monday night. The jury is still out on this one. I like improv, when done right. I was a huge fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway, as far back as when Clive Anderson was still the host. I enjoyed the first skit done on TGYH, with Wayne Knight as a “doctor” on a morning show. (”It’s an alternative TO medicine”? Classic. “It’s a supplement TO vitamins”…had me rolling.) I didn’t think much of the other sketches, or the group one at the end. I did enjoy the scenes with the security checkpoint at the airport.
I watched the 2nd episode that aired right after the first, and though Monique was great in her The Price Is Right ripoff - especially the big about the skinny model. And I liked the taxi driver bit, but the rest of the show was a bit flat. I think that some of the actors just simply aren’t improve people. It was neat to see sitcom stars doing a show like this, but I think it shows us why Whose Line Is It Anyway had a cast of regulars to carry the show.
I will saw that the first bit, with Wayne as the doctor, made me laugh harder than I have laughed at Saturday Night Live in YEARS. I’ll probably tune in again, but I’m not sure if this show will stay on my DVR schedule.
Oh - I loved seeing Dave Foley as host too. I am a BIG Kids In The Hall fan.
Do you happen to know of any links to clips of the show? WLIIA was really good, though when they moved the show over to america, something seemed to have been lost.
Whose Line Is It Anyway was a good show, back in the day. I haven’t heard of this Thank God You’re Here, interesting– I’ll check it out.

I was VERY excited about this show until I watched it. I am not going to make any special plans to make sure I catch future episodes. If I do watch it, it will simply be to see Dave Foley. I had a massive, pitiful crash on him back in about 1990. *sigh* I’m a KItH fan too.
I’m undecided about that show as well. I had kind of an “eh” feeling after the premieres. I’ll give it another chance this week because I love Jason Alexander, but if I’m not wowed this time, I’ll probably not tune in again.
interesting blog!
I’ve tagged your blog under the DoFollow meme.
