Has anyone out there read a book called, The Ultimate Gift? I just heard that a movie is being made of the book (which sold 4 million copies), and it’s being released on March 9th. The message of the book was “The only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself is to give part of yourself away”. I like that…what I like even more is that for once, the movie industry is using this to do the right thing. 20th Century Fox is sponsoring a big promotion for “The Ultimate Gift” called the Weekend of Giving. During the opening days of the movie (March 9th, 10th, and 11th) $1 from every ticket sale for “The Ultimate Gift” will be donated to the charitable cause of YOUR choice, thanks to a special partnership with the Fox Film Fund. That means I can go see a great movie, and get $1 donated to whatever I choose – my 3-Day cause for example. And you can do the same! In addition, there will be special fund raising events in conjunction with the movie opening. You can sign up to participate in the Weekend of Giving to support your cause and your community. This is the official site of the movie "The Ultimate Gift" and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others. 300 pre-screenings of the movie have already collected over $5 million in charitable donations!

As for the actual movie, it stars Abigail Breslin, James Garner, Ali Hillis, Drew Fuller and Brian Dennehy. If you saw Little Miss Sunshine, Abigail Breslin was also in that. The movie promises to be true to the book – heart felt and values-oriented. You can view a movie trailer for The Ultimate Gift online.
Again, props to Fox for picking something that may not be an action packed shoot ‘em up blockbuster, or the bigger money maker.

I love James Garner and Brian Dennehy. Anything with both of them has got to be pretty good. Have you seen the Notebook? Can’t admit it everywhere since it’s a chick movie, but I really enjoyed it.
