My son makes his First Holy Communion in a mere 3 months. He turns 8 the day after. I’m a little verklempt just thinking about so many big things happening to him on one weekend. He recently attended confession for the first time, and he was sooo nervous. All of the 2nd graders went to the service together, with a parent, and then did confessions one by one after the service. He said to me before he went that he didn’t want to tell anyone the bad choices he made. Awwww!

As far as first communion gifts, I think we’ll get him what we got his sisters – his own Bible, a rosary, and a case for everything. He’s not going to be impressed with the religious theme the gifts will have that day, but his birthday IS the day after, so I’m sure he’ll be happier then.

Aww….I remember my first confession! Ew – scary!

And I remember not being impressed with my religious-themed gifts, either – but, now I cherish them – one is from my grandmother and she’s passed on, and one of them – the bible from the church, was from one of my very favorite priests, and he’s passed on. So they are very special to me!!
