I am so over school fundraisers. It’s January, and I just received ANOTHER packet about another school fundraiser. They get the kids all excited about raising money to “win prizes”, and on top of that, the class that raises the most gets a pizza party. WTH? I’ve got no desire to do a fundraiser for school every other month. None. And it annoys me that they have special assemblies at school to feed the kids this fundraising propoganda and get them excited about it, when really, it’s the parents who have to do all of the work!

They were just starting to push that continuous fundraising crap when I was in high school. My parents didn’t know a lot of people and I tapped my neighbors pretty early on. Without help from my parents, I didn’t fall for that propaganda early on. There was many a turn-in day that I just gave the blank form back to the sponsoring teacher. I’d say make your kids do all the work and maybe the schools would stop doing this stupid stuff. Also, being a former teacher, I know the money is there for all these programs they claim they need funds for, whether administrators will admit it or not. When school districts stop being so freaking top heavy, I’ll consider supporting a real fundraising need. Sorry, getting off my soap box now.

I refuse to do them because the school gets such a tiny percent ~ ugh! My kids brought home SIX fundraiser packets last year! six! no freaking way was I doing that.

Yes, and while working closely with the PTA one year, a friend and I had to go to the district’s ‘Professional Development Center’. This place was so nice – it was like a freaking country club! But they need money – huh?

Heck – out here, we only have two schools in the whole district – HAHAHA – and the school board has one of the tiny buildings that is part of the elementary campus!

Quite a jump from the Richardson School District!

But yeah, I don’t do those things – with three kids, I have to sell three times as much, make sure everyone gets the same amount…ugh…no way

Big headache!!
