This entry about children of the depression over at Cheese Party reminded me so much of my grandmother, aka Mormor. As I commented on Cheese Party, my Mormor had enough money to support a small country, but she washed and reused her ziploc bags and if you had used a paper towel to wipe up water, you were to hang it up to dry so that you could use it again. She’d spend $100 on a dress for a gala, but she’d drive 5 miles across town to save 50 cents on coffee at the grocery store.
Will my grandkids someday talk about how I spend money like it’s going out of style? Will they say “Keep Grandma off eBay?” I wonder…
