Another week, another episode closer to the end of The Amazing Race. This week, we got to see the blondes make a scene at the ticketing counter when they pulled Tyler and James up to the front, thereby letting Tyler and James have “backsies” in front of the Bama girls. Ask any 4th grader - you give someone “backsies”, you’re asking for trouble. The blondes were just stupid enough to wonder why the Bama girls were upset. Well DUH. If they had done that to the blondes, we would have heard about it for the remainder of the episode. Tyler and James, you were too quick to step up in front of the Bama girls, and it had absolutely no effect on your flight, so you choose the wrong battle. I hope it comes back to haunt you.
In other scenes, we saw the other dating couple (who are they - Rob and Kim?) fighting some more. PLEASE, for the love of all things Phil - break up already!
Bama and the Cho brothers show that while they have a 3 way alliance with Kentucky, they are still in this game to win. Kentucky seems a bit too focused on the friendship aspect, and several times Mary held herself up waiting for teams who wouldn’t do the same for her. Still, they were not eliminated, by the skin of their teeth. As long as they come in 1st next week, they’ll still be in this game.

Aimee posted about making an eyeball cake. Ewww! I’m not sure if I could stomach eating that. Ever since I injured my eye, well, eyeballs sort of gross me out.

I’ve posted a bit about Apogee and their search engine marketingSearch in the past, and recently read on their website that they’ve joined SEMPO. What’s SEMPO? it’s the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization. SEMPO was founded in 2002 and the educate people about search engine marketing. What does this mean for us? It means Apogee Search is going to continue to advance as a search marketing industry leader.
Apogee’s focus has always been on “customers, not clicks”. Have worked with click through advertising, I completely understand their perspective. Click throughs in advertising and online marketing don’t do any good if they aren’t turning into leads and sales.

Ugh. It’s been non-stop fundraising around here. Flyers are coming home daily from the kids school to send in money for one thing or another. I don’t mind ordering the frozen cookie dough so much, but I hate the giftwrap and gifts catalog. I had to struggle to find something I could use in there, and ended up with a cookbook.

Did you know that nose surgery, aka rhinoplasty, was the most popular kind of plastic surgery in 2003? That’s a lot of people who are very unhappy with their noses! I don’t know a single person who has had a nose job - but I guess most people typically don’t go around broadcasting once they’ve had it done.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe looked like the perfect couple. His n’ hers careers, adorable children (and it’s no wonder, what that gene pool!). But alas - the couple has called it quits. Not everyone survives the 7 year itch.

I’ve had no luck getting ringtones to work on my new Razr phone from my provider’s website, so I’m going to branch out and try elsewhere, like this link: http://banners.mobilesidewalk.com/landingpages/musictrivia/music_land_aa.asp?
When you sign up, you get 15 ringtones from Mobile Sidewalk - and it’s just 3 easy steps to sign up. (Unlike my cell phone provider who wants me to literally jump through hoops to download a ringtone!) Once you’re in, you’ve got access to 1,000’s of songs - I would have liked to have seen some of them before signing up though, and I didn’t see a way to do that.

Cass is quickly becoming one of my most favorite people in the blogosphere, and not just because she agrees with me a lot. For one thing, she’s a knitter. And she’s way more talented than I am, because she can knit sweaters. That people are actually able to wear. In between knitting and blogger, she’s a mother. Of EIGHT. That means Cass is patient beyond belief. That’s not to say she doesn’t lose her temper know and then, but when she does, she keeps it contained to her blog. Cass also supported me in my fundraising efforts for the 3Day walk, thanks Cass!

While perusing the web this afternoon, I came across a new site called Cash Columns, which is a brand new site offering a new type of advertising. It sounds too good to be true, so of course, I’m interested in finding out if it really does work. And this is how it works:
You buy a space in one of their “cash columns” for a small fee, say $1. When someone else decides to bump you down a notch, they pay double what you paid, so in this example, $2. In return for getting bumped down one space on the cash column, you get your intial $1 investment refunded to you. When someone else decides to knock the person above YOU down a notch, the person directly above YOU is refunded on their initial $2 investment, and you get another payment of 50% your original investment, or fifty cents in this example. All the while, your ad stays up - it just moves down the cash column.
In return for your payment, you get a graphic and link back to your site. Remember - as long as you are on the cash column, you’re getting traffic to your site, and you’ve got the potential to make money at the same time. Columns are relatively cheap now, going for $2-$4, but as the traffic increases to this site, they’ll go up in price.
I’ve sent of an email to buy a space, so I’ll be sure to report back on how much traffic (and money) I get in return!
