There’s been a lot of discussion around me lately concerning page rank & search results, and how to optimize your site to make the most of it. Not many people understand Google’s pagerank and how to up their personal pagerank. Adding to that, Google has started beta testing for a new web search that caters to the visually challenged. So in addition to making your page nice for the general public, you could take it a step further and make it accessible to everyone, which will obviously lead you to a wider audience. I believe that target.com is actually having issues now with this…and obviously doing something like that isn’t for everyone, but I wonder how many big companies WILL make their webpages accessible? If you want to see a website that is in compliance with the web accessibility guidelines, you can look no further than usweb.com. They’re going to start doing the same search engine optimization for others, so that more sites can reach customers under Google Accessible Search.

One Response to “page ranks, search engines, and the like”

Making the site accessible was one of our concerns when developing our eCommerce and client portal here at work. We actually worked with a blink lady who tested the site and gave us her feedback! I think it’s important.
