When I owned my website, the majority of our advertising was dependent on people clicking on that banner, or people purchasing through a link. That's a tough sell. This PayPerPost thing has three great advantages. First, you know what you're getting paid upfront (and it's a lot more than you'd think). Second, you get to choose which things you want to advertise. Third, the amount of work, as you say, is not very much for the money. I find most of the posts write themselves quickly. I calculate the pay rate to be similar to what I'd earn working overtime at my day job, if we had overtime. That's nothing to look askance at.
