I googled myself, or rather, my PayPerPost nickname, and found this blog entry about my $1000 milestone with PayPerPost.

Hmm…what to think? I like the limelight, but not sure how I feel about being called “pathetic”, or rather that it’s “pathetic” that it took 7 weeks to make $1000. HUH? I’m sorry, are there are blogging programs that pay more? That are this easy? People are using AdSense all over, and I don’t think they’re making anywhere near $1000 in 7 weeks. Someone else mentioned professional bloggers…and that’s a good point. I don’t know of a single PayPerPost blogger who IS a professional blogger. I’m not, and at this point in time, don’t care to be. If someone handed you $1000, for a few minutes work each day, over the course of 7 weeks, would you turn your nose up at it? Obviously I didn’t. It’s cool if people don’t like PayPerPost, if they think it’s mindless product placement, and we’ve sold our souls. It’s not for everyone. I sure have enjoyed whipping out my Paypal debit card to pay for everything from groceries to books to lessons for my kids in the past month though. And with a lot more money to come, I’m going to continue to use PayPerPost and watch it grow.

Thoughts?

Some people are jealous. That’s my thought.

And, I’m following you baby! Of course, at my rate of posting on my blog, it will take me until Christmas to make that first $1,000. And that’s OK. It will pay for Christmas! LOL

Interesting – I would like to know how to make more than 1K in 7 weeks blogging – I’d be all over it!

Unless you’re getting tens of thousands of hits per day, you’ll have a hard time making money off of Google or the other programs as a blogger. This PayPerPost thing has three great advantages. First, you know what you’re getting paid upfront (and it’s a lot more than you’d think). Second, you get to choose which things you want to advertise. Third, the amount of work, as you say, is not very much for the money. I find most of the posts write themselves quickly. I calculate the pay rate to be similar to what I’d earn working overtime at my day job, if we had overtime. That’s nothing to look askance at.

Congratulations on your achievement, Colleen, and keep it up.

Tor, that’s a great point. When I owned my website, the majority of our advertising was dependent on people clicking on that banner, or people purchasing through a link. That’s a tough sell. It’s much easier to get paid this way.

Just laugh at them as you are counting your money!

I love people who diss stuff without really knowing what’s going on. What’s it to him if you make a few dollars on the side? He’s just jealous!

I think that commentor didn’t know what he was talking about. There’s no use listening to people like that. For any of us who simply like to blog for the fun of it, getting paid any extra amount per month is something to celebrate!

People are often quick to judge … that’s their problem! LOL! Like you said, keep spending the cash who gives a crap what they think.
