Remember the blinds we ordered last week? JCP said they’d call us when we got in, so I made SURE to give them my cell number since we were moving. We never heard from them, so I called yesterday and was told over the phone they were there waiting for me. I trucked my ass 25 miles south to the mall today to pick them up, only to be told that my order had been there so long waiting for me, they cancelled it and sent it back.
WTF? I never, EVER got a call on my phone that the order was there, and yesterday was told they were there waiting for me, when in fact, they were sent back to wherever blinds come from on Monday. MONDAY! Grrrr. JCP is now shipping them directly to my house, at no additional charge.
It wasn’t a completely wasted trip though - I also got to drive 10 miles north of our new house to pick up my toll paying thingamajig. SOMEONE (not me!) left it in the moving truck we rented.
I’m not getting a darn thing unpacked!

I didn’t unpack a thing yesterday. GO ME! In fact, I pretty much got nothing done all day. I slept til 10-ish, didn’t shower til noon, and then went to Home Depot. SOMEONE living in this house (not me!) lost the screw peg thingies that hold in the shelf on our entertainment unit, and some very important screws for the dryer, that attach the cord to the back of the dryer. No doubt, we’ll find them months from now in a box or towels or some such place.
While at Home Depot, I also bought a tension rod for the curtain I wanted to hang over the sink. I even got it up before Jim came home. Here’s how observant Jim is - these curtains were in our other house, that we moved out of in November. I had them in the living room and our family room. He saw the one hanging over the window in the kitchen and said he loved it, and that it was a same we didn’t have more. I said we DO have more, from the old house. He doesn’t remember them at ALL. Silly man.
Oh, I also did the grout sealer in our master shower. We found some grout sealer in a spray bottle and I tried that - it seemed to work pretty well, and was way easier than liquid sealer.
Tonight Jim has to take the boy to hockey so I may venture out in search of a new mattress - with one extra twin bed now, we’re short a mattress - we swapped all the kids beds around so the missing one is on the bunk bed for now, and no one needs to sleep there, but I’d like to get it before the empty bunkie board becomes some sort of Lego staging/building area.

We’re all moved in! We’re moving the furniture tomorrow. We painted everything except the bathrooms and laundry room. We just ran out of time and were sick of painting after 2000+ sq feet of painting. Our surround sound was installed Friday and it so SO awesome. The speakers are in the ceiling, and we have another set on the lanai. We bought a 2 zone receiver so that you can watch a movie/tv inside with the surround sound and listen to a CD/radio outside.
It’s hard to see all the furniture with all the boxes! It’s just amazing to me how much STUFF we have, because our last house before the rental was a 3 bedroom 1400 sq ft house. And it feels like we’ve filled up this one already. I thought last night would be the best night of sleep in a week, since I was practically dead from exhaustion, but I was up 2 or 3 times at least. But…I couldn’t hear the kids watching TV this morning, which used to drive me nuts. I did get woken up by guys working on the roof next door though. Gracie didn’t even SLEEP here last night - she went to my mothers!
There’s just still so much to do, I’m still waiting for the enjoyment part to kick in. We did have a nice “real” (no fast food) dinner last night here with my mom and our friends who helped us move. And took pictures. And Jim and I used our new shower last night! (No pictures)
I labeled all the pictures in the album so you can tell what you’re looking at! Sorry, they’re just of empty rooms, before we moved furniture in.

Last night I went to Lowe’s and bought a fridge for the new house. There is a rebate on it to send in for a free $100 giftcard. Today I called and changed our insurance info for the cars - by moving our insurance is going down almost $500 a year - woot! It’s nice to save a little bit of moolah now that we have that huge mortgage payment!
In other news, last night we got all the kids rooms painted. I’m a little unsure about Gracie’s room - I picked a light green and it’s a LOT brighter on the walls than I thought it would be. Jim loves it, which surprised me. It looks like lime sherbert. I guess I’ll have to see it today in the sunshine and see how I feel about it. I’m at home right now waiting on the carpet cleaners, and then I’ll be heading back up to the new house after I pick the kids up from school - last day of school - yay!

We closed yesterday at 3pm and everything went great. We went right back over to the house after that because we had our cars jam packed full of stuff. We had packed up the entire kitchen @ the rental the night before, so I unpacked all of that. Jim is going to start painting this afternoon. We’re both off tomorrow and the rest of the long weekend for painting and moving.
I was WAY too tired last night to post pictures. I came home, packed some more, took a shower, and then vegged on the couch for a while…and was in bed by 11pm.
But, here are some pictures of our closing and such, and some before and afters.

We went back up to the new house tonight to stuff some boxes into my moms garage…and I happened to notice we had mail in our new mailbox. Aww…the first pieces of mail at our new house! It was nothing terribly exciting though - a garbage pickup bill and our new drivers licenses.

Our walk through is done. The house looks almost perfect…just a few spots where touch up paint is needed and such. The cabinets for the new and improved tech center were delivered while we were there, and will be installed tomorrow. Everything else will be done today, and the house will have the final cleaning. Since there’s nothing else to do, the big news is that we can move up our closing….YAY!!!!
Our super said we could do it Wednesday or Thursday, or even possibly tomorrow night. We are so, SO thrilled because it means that much more time to move and make trips to the house with little stuff.
Jim called his mom after our walk through to let her know how it went and mentioned we were on our way to Lowe’s to buy our paint. She said she’d meet us there and she took us on a little shopping spree. We got all of the paint for the bedrooms and baths and painting supplies and grout sealer and tons of other stuff - her treat. All we have to buy now is our fridge and the paint for the den/dining/kitchen/family room, which is a Sherwin Williams color I picked out.
I can not even tell you how happy I was when the super said we could move up the closing from Friday. I HUGGED her right there…LOL!
Update: The title company called and we’re scheduled for closing @ 3pm tomorrow. TOMORROW!!!! We’re going to the house for another walk through prior to that to see that things have been fixed, and then off to the title company.

I’m tired. I feel like we just did STUFF all weekend, and sadly, not much of it moving-related. Related to OUR move that is…LOL! We did help friends move, so it was like a run through for next weekend. I tried to be a good girl and pack this afternoon when I got home, but we only had 4 boxes left. Those are now filled with kitchen items and I cleaned out the fridge too. There’s not much more I can do tonight without any boxes. I’m severly lacking in the motivation department also. There just seems like SO much stuff to do and with Jim working every day til Thursday, I’m a bit overwhelmed.
Walk through at the new house is tomorrow morning at 8am.

I’m having my first mammogram ever this afternoon, and I’m nervous. As a charter member of the IBTC, I don’t have much to squeeze into that machine. I need my pain threshold to magically change in the next two hours so that I don’t completely wimp out during the ordeal!

Tonight we’re going to an end of the year school skating party at the local roller rink. My kids begged and pleaded to go, so off we go. I actually don’t mind the roller skating part, it’s the horde of kids and parents I mind. Crowds, and bratty kids, and making nice with parents I don’t know, who I’ll never see again after tonight.
God, I am SUCH a cranky old lady!
