We went to the new house both days this weekend. There was good stuff (some lighting fixtures installed) and bad stuff.

We ordered cabinets for the tech center. I’ve seen them in one other home, AFTER we ordered ours, so we went into it not knowing what it would look like. Our sales person described it for us, but I was so happy to go into the other home like ours in the neighborhood and see what it looked like in person:

So you can imagine my disappointment when I walked upstairs to ours yesterday and saw this:

Yes, that’s finished - there are smooth edges on the counter top and everything, indicating to me that SOMEONE thinks that’s what we’re getting? Uhh…no. I emailed these pictures to our super today asking her what’s up, but I haven’t gotten an answer on it. If I wanted what we’ve got right now, I would have just put in my own desk and some shelving.

Here’s a link to the rest of the pictures:

I was surprised to see the coach lights on the outside of the garage - we don’t remember upgrading those, so I was expecting them to be plainer and smaller like my moms. When we saw the bigger lights on another house, we even said to each other we WISH we would have changed them….so I’m not sure if we’re forgetting that we upgraded them, or if the builder made a mistake.

The missing shampoo shelves were installed in the master bath…and they’re wrong. They were supposed to be in the same corner, and they put one right above the shower seat - if you sit there, you hit your head. Why am I surprised that AFTER we complained about things in the shower being wrong, no one used the freaking picture of how things ARE supposed to be in there? The super did get back to me on this and they will install more deco tiles to make it right at no cost to us. (Not bad since I only paid for 6 deco tiles!)

The bedroom arch that has already been ripped out once to be redone is still wrong. Now that the molding is in above the door it is obvious how uneven things are - the molding is about 1/2 an inch down from the arch on one side, and 2 1/2 inches on the other side.

One more month til our closing date! Will it be done in time? Stay tuned!

[...] Our super just called with good news and bad news. The good news is, someone DID screw up our tech center, and it should be like the pics I posted. Yay! They’ll be fixing it now. [...]
