I saw this over at Amy’s - have fun!

Assignment from your English teacher:

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don’t speak often or don’t really know each other) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you’re finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON’T ACTUALLY remember about you!

Three posts in one day…wow!

I just got home from picking the boy up at school. The clinic called me to warn me that he’d be coming home with a bumped up face. It seems he took a tumble off the slide and then fell INTO the slide as he was going down. I asked if he was ok to finish out the day or not, and the nurse said she’d let me talk to him and make that call. She put him on the phone and I could tell he was trying to be a tough guy…so the big softy in me figured a few hours out of school for the afternoon couldn’t hurt.

We stopped at 7-11 on the way home to get an ice cream treat to make it all better, and he’s now camped on the couch watching Scooby Doo. His face probably looks worse than it actually is, but a little pampering never hurts!

Laura’s post on her top ten favorite pieces of clothing reminded me that I never shared on my shopping deals from last weekend. My friend Shannon and I hit Macy’s and I scored big time. They were having huge clearance sales and I spent $77, but SAVED something like $233 from those items original full prices.

Among my favorite deals - a dark purple corduroy jacket for $15, and a dark blue denim jacket for $7. I think they were both originally $50+.

Then we went to Old Navy so I could return my jeans that didn’t fit. Happily, I was able to replace them at another store, and the inseam is long enough (34 inches!)

Since my shopping sprees, I’ve been kinda bummed that I’ll only be in the office 2 days between last week and this week. I’ve got new clothes to show off!

I walked in there this morning to make some copies and check my P.O. box. As I’m heading to the copy machinhe, this older guy (and when I say “older” I mean, late 60’s to early 70’s, old enough to be my grandfather) comes out from the post office line area and says, “Hey slim, come help me with this!”

Is he talking to me? I walked over to the copy machine and he plops this huge box on the counter next to me and starts talking - almost manic like - about how the post office wouldn’t take the box as is and said he needed to tape it up better and he doesn’t know why he bothers since his grandkids don’t talk to him anyway and his daughter moved to Sarasota and he doesn’t like Sarasota but he needs to send this box to them and it’s too big for him to tape by himself and “Here slim, help me!”

So what could I do, but help him? In a way, he reminded me a bit of my grandfather. So here we are - at the post office, taping this huge box up. (And the box has seen better days). We wrap it up and he asks, “So, Slim - are you married?”

“Umm…yes?” I replied.

“Aww, that’s too bad Slim, I’ve got two tickets for the Starship Yacht - nice little boat ride. I was going to take my lady friend but we broke up.” Seeing that the box was 99% ready to go I wished him good luck and made a hasty exit.

It’s not every day a girl gets hit on by someone old enough to be her grandfather!

Amy shared these two websites, and they are freaking hilarious.

Overheard In New York & Overheard In The Office.

Best overheard bit:

Asian girl: I really like sleep sex.
White girl #1: What’s that?
Asian girl: You know, when you’re sleeping and you wake up and you’re having sex. Sleep sex.
White girl #2: You mean getting raped?

I just tried my new Mary Kay microdermabrasion set I bought from my former boss. WOW. My face is feeling smoother than a baby butt right now. I can’t stop feeling my face!

Yesterday Disney opened up their new coaster - Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom - for a four day sneak peek, which was for passholders only. And I’m a passholder!

After our trip to the new house this weekend, I was curious to learn more about my future hometown.

We’re moving from middle class suburbia - where one town runs into another and vacant land is a rarity. The population of my current town is approx. 17,000 people. (I think they’re only counting within actual city limits on that also). Elevation - 14 feet. (Pretty good for being so close to the gulf!) 90% white.

I’ve hesitated in going public with this, because I was so willing to resolve things and I’ve bent over backwards to accomodate someone. But my patience is gone now.

On November 30th, I contacted Cherry over at Web Divas after a referral from a friend. I needed a design for my 3 day website and I liked her work. We chatted a bit via email about the price ($200) and what would be included - and I was pretty excited about proceeding. At that time, she never mentioned there being a wait to start working on my site.

On Dec. 5th, I sent Cherry $200 via Paypal for her services. I didn’t hear from her, so I waited, and contacted her again. She said she had the flu when she did email me 2 days later, and also said that Steve (the guy who was doing my custom artwork) would not be around to start my artwork until after Dec. 17th. One Dec. 12, Cherry informed me of there being a queue of work ahead of me for her end of things also. I was not informed in advance that there was a queue and not told that there would be any delays in working on my site.

Once Steve returned, I began to work directly with him on my artwork. On January 10th we agreed on a design, and he said he would send it to Cherry. I have not heard from her, despite sending 2 emails and confirming with Steve that he sent her the artwork.

Cherry was very responsive and quick to reply to me before I paid, but since then, I’ve been disappointed with the turn around time and lack of communication.

My next step was to email all of the other divas….which I did, last week. No response. I tried to file a complaint with Paypal and I’m stuck there because it’s been more than 45 days. In my email to all the Web-Divas, I even offered them the choice to not pay me back if someone else would simply finish the design for me. Nothing.

You know, screwing me is one thing - but screwing me when it’s a site for CHARITY?? I’m so disappointed. It hurts to put your faith in someone to do something and end up with nothing to show for it. I’ve offered her plenty of time, and chances to work with me. I offered the rest of her team a chance to make up for her mistakes. Nothing.

So here I am - almost 2 months later, $200 poorer, and nothing to show for it.

Jim and I were off together yesterday so we went to the new house - it’s completely framed, so I got to see my den space for the first time. (All the other ones have a living room open to the dining room - no den.) I was pleasantly surprised - in my mind, it was smaller.

We also got to see our model with cabinets and the island option we got - again, pleasantly surprised! It’s hard buying a house you’ve never seen off paper or in various stages of framing.

Duh…the back!

We explored town a little bit and found these 2 places only 6 miles from our house:
