We’re finally rid of the crappy Sprint cell service! Our contract was up November 23rd, so today we made it out for new phones. I’m now sporting a spiffy new Samsung camera phone and T-Mobile service. And my phone was FREE! Jim got the same one but we’ve already downloaded different ring tones - some hockey song for him, and mine…
“You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch”.

I’m done shopping for ONE person on my list. ONE! And it was a kid, so that’s easy peasy. I’m keeping a list of everything I buy in Word so I can make my list and check it twice!

Yesterday we drove up to the new subdivision to see what progress is being made. One of the homes (not our model) was open and the cabinets and flooring were done, so we nosed around in it and critiqued the color choices made…LOL!! (Click photos to embiggen)
This is my moms lot with her permit sign - they’re laying everything out to pour her foundation.
Here we are in front of our sign - we have a sign!! (If you look closely you can see the kids couldn’t keep their eyes open - it was too sunny!)
The nicest surprise - the streetlights were up! We were really happy to see that they’re not “plain jane” lights - they’ve got some style! And there is one right on the lot line between our house and my moms.
We met some neighbors who were there too, they will be down a few houses and across the street from us - a young couple with 2 little boys and one more on the way. We chatted with them for a good 20 minutes or so. That makes 2 families we know there now!

Just wanted to share a few pictures from our walk on Thursday - one of my sister and I (she’s the one doing the Breast Cancer 3 day walk with me next year) and one of Catherine and me.
In other news - the time off from work is nice but the kids are driving me straight to the loony bin. Thousands of dollars worth of toys, books, videos, games, bikes…and they’re BORED. Christmas break is going to be the death of me!

The walk today was fabulous. We made the 5k (3.1 miles) in just under an hour (57:16 to be exact) and we’re going to do this 10k next month. Catherine did AWESOME! She is psyched to do the walk with us next month too.
The weather was perfect and we warmed up quickly. The race route was through a neighborhood and lots of families were out to cheer us on, or hand out water. One house had little girls offering us free lemonade! Another was even offering brownies. And we passed 3 yards that had bands set up in them playing some rockin’ tunes to keep us movin’.
All in all we probably walked closer to 4 miles since we had to walk from the car and back!

Tomorrow, I’m walking in the 27th Annual Times Turkey Trot, along with Catherine and my sister. We’re doing the 5k portion. It starts at 7:30am, which means I’m getting up WILLINGLY at 6am to go walk over 3 miles. (Yeah, I know…nuts!)
It’s going to be 58 degrees tomorrow morning, so I had to go to Target tonight to buy sweats. I don’t have any and normally wouldn’t wear them - I’m strictly a jeans girl for cold weather! We all have matching race TV shirts to wear, and I’ll throw on a light jacket over that, which I can pull off and tie around my waste if I warm up. And I’ll be wearing my 3 day bracelet and pin.
When we get home after the race, showers and naps will be on my to do list.

First the boy got strep throat. Then I got bronchitis. Now Gracie is running a fever and says she feels achy.

The closing went off without a hitch! I showed up 45 minutes after it started per my realtor since the buyers had a lot more to sign than I did. (Jim couldn’t make the closing so he signed everything on Friday.) I left with my nice big check and went right to the post office to overnight it to my bank. (For whatever reason, they couldn’t wire it to our bank directly).
Phew! I’m glad THAT’S over!!! In other news, I think our permit for the house we are building has been issued to the builder
