Yesterday we went over to Busch Gardens to celebrate the great report cards the kids got. The weather was absolutely perfect - sunny, cool breezes…
And the park was perfect as well - no lines, no crowds! We walked onto every single ride, no lines. When we got to the park we paid $5 for the passholder preferred parking so that we could skip the tram and just walk from our car to the gate. We headed straight into Egypt and went to Montu. Catherine had never been on it before, but she’s big enough now, so I took her on that, while Jim and the other kids checked out the King Tut tomb exhibit. She LOVED Montu and said it felt like she was flying. Jim was amazed at how quickly we were on and off, and so we headed towards the middle of the park.
Matthew has been saying he would try Scorpion, and Grace hadn’t been on it either, so we all piled on that. Matthew decided he didn’t like it, but Grace did, so the girls and I rode again. We did a few other little rides in this area and then went to Kumba. Jim took the smaller kids on the kiddie rides and I took Catherine on Kumba - another big hit with her!
After that, we went to Python, which is the oldest coaster in the park. I took the girls on this one while Matthew and Jim waited. (Matthew’s not tall enough for it yet). Once we were off that (a 10 minute line - the longest of the day I think!), we headed to Land of the Dragons, which is an area of ropes, nets, moonwalks…and Lory Landing. This was my favorite part of the day. You enter this enclosed net, like a huge pool enclosure, that’s a bird habitat. We bought teeny cups of nectar and entered the lorakeet area. The little birds land right on you when they see the cups of nectar. I had a bird on my heard, and three on my arm, all trying to drink the nectar, and so did each of the kids. Of course, I didn’t bring my camera…argh! The kids thought it was the neatest thing ever! The birds are also attracted to jewelry, so once my cup of nectar was gone, I had them trying to make off with my diamond ring…LOL
We left and enjoyed a quiet drive home - Jim and I parked the kids in front of the TV with a movie and enjoyed a nap - the perfect ending to a perfect day.
