The 1st graders wrote books titled “All About Me” for their open house last week. Matthew’s was a hoot, so I thought I would share it. Each page had a prewritten sentence, and then he filled in a reply. (I’ve edited the spelling of course…LOL)

This is what I look like: I am hairy. I have green eyes.

I like to: Go in the pool. I like to play foot ball. I like to color.

These are the people in my family. Let me tell you about them: My two dogs are cute. My sisters are nice. My dad is cool. My mom is not fun sometimes.

If a friend described me, he or she might say I am: Funny

When I grow up I’d like to be: A computer worker

If I could change one thing about the world, I would change: It into a slide

The one thing I could never change about me is: My eye sight

Jim just left to pickup the dogs from the kennel. I haven’t seen them since Friday when I dropped them off. It was easy to leave the big dog - she’s happy no matter what. But Lola always thinks she’s being abandoned for good. She was so nervous when I picked her up after her dental a few weeks ago, and it took her all evening to calm down. I told them to give her some extra love - she’s a people person, uhh…people dog?

Last night it seemed so odd to be here without the dog. I caught myself wanting to feed them, check the bowls for water, looking at the doggie dog…the place just seemed empty without those 8 paws tap dancing around!

It just occured to me, as I was tucking the kids into bed, that I haven’t packed for the weekend trip to Disney yet. We’re leaving Friday so that means I must. pack. tomorrow. I am dreading climbing up into the attic to get my damn suitcase though! And tomorrow is their open house at school, so like I don’t have enough to do already?

I’ll be SO happy when the man is home from Vegas and I’ve got some help around here again!

The man left in the wee hours of the morning to catch a 6am flight to Vegas. He’s going with a buddy from work for 4 days. I didn’t even get to see him all weekend because he had to work before he started his vacation. Now I’m on my own with the childrens til Thursday night. I think early bedtimes are the plan!

I don’t think I mentioned anything here about the boys allergy testing. This spring, he started sneezing and coughing and having runny/watery eyes. We went to the allergist my mom goes to and he said he would do the testing so that we could find out what was triggering all of this. But - because Matthew is only 6, he won’t do the weekly shots to overcome the allergies. (Fine by me - who wants to torture a 6 year old with weekly shots?)

The allergy testing in itself was a nightmare. They did 20 scratches on his back to put the allergens on and actually drew blood….poor little guy. Then he couldn’t do anything for 15 minutes so we could see which spots reacted. As BAD as his allergies are, he’s only allergic to three things. 2 different kinds of dust mites, and cockroaches.

COCKROACHES? WTH? I don’t even think I’ve seen one in my house since we moved in! The allergist explained that it doesn’t mean that is what is affecting him right now - it just means it IS something he is allergic too. So no pet cockroaches for Matthew. Heh!

We’ve got a pretty good handle on the dust in our house. It bothers me too and I suspect it would show up if I were tested. We only have carpet in the bedrooms and we have wood laminate everywhere else. The only thing the doctor really recommended was getting the alllergen covers for Matthew’s mattress and pillow. I did that today. He does cough a lot in the morning so the pillow and the dust mites inside it (ick, ick, ICK!) are probably the cause. I know I could wash the pillow daily and there would STILL be dust mites in it but it still creeps me out.

Anyway…so, new stuff for the bedding, and continue the Zyrtec nightly. Wheeeeeeee! I’m inspired to get my own testing done instead of just continuing to guess at what I’m allergic too. (I think dust, cats, cut grass, bees, wasps, some flowers and weeds, and housework. HEH!)

When I hear about gas prices in California going over $3 a gallon (eek) it makes me appreciate living in Florida, but the recent jump to over $2.50 is KILLING me! What happened to the $2.15 I was paying just a few weeks ago?

For you local types, here’s a place to find the el cheapo gas.

Here’s to tele-commuting!!

Do you remember that scene in Mr. Mom where Michael Keaton is dropping the kids off at school and screwing everything up? Parking in the wrong area, going to the wrong way…

Yep, that’s me at school. Nothing to make you feel like a grown-up than being corrected by some school lady at 9:30 in the morning. First, Matthew stepped one toe off the curb when he exited the car to grab his backpack from me, so she had to tell him to stay on the sidewalk. Fine, fine, safety and all that. But then she gets fussy with ME for getting out of the truck to get the backpacks out of the way back and tells me I should stay inside the car and she will get them. Uhh…whatever lady! Some intruction on carline rules prior to today would have been well appreciated. I don’t mind following the rules if I know of them IN ADVANCE!

I went to the YMCA last night for my 1st free coaching session. With your membership, they give you 4 - basically a time to meet with someone one on one to determine your goals (mine are muscle toning, building upper body strength) and to show you how to use the machines correctly. My coach was awesome - she spent over an hour with me and let me use each machine just like I would for a regular workout so we could figure out what I could handle. (Which is not much at this point…HA!) We only did lower body last night and my legs were complete jello last night. Thankfully I was able to move to get out of the bed this morning! I haven’t exercised like that in…well…forever. I used to ride my bike a lot in high school (2 miles was nothing) but then started having kids and that was the end of that!

I’m going to go back Thursday and meet my sister there for another session.
