Not much going on. Working from home this week, except for tomorrow. My boss and is taking me and the rest of our team to LeeRoy Selmons for my birthday lunch. I see they’ve got fried green tomatos on the menu…I am SO getting those! Damnit, now I’m getting all hungry, and we’ve only got pizza rolls in the house. :pout:

Jim made appointments for the dogs to go to the vet in August today when he refilled our lab’s prescription. They’re getting up to date on all their shots and getting dentals - roughly $550 total. Oy vey! Plus Lola *may* need blood work if she needs pain meds after the dental (she’s got a bad tooth that we think we be removed). The bloodwork costs $80. So…roughly $600, $630? Or $300 per dog.

Works out to $3.75 per pound for the lab and $23 for Lola. The price of love!! My kids only cost $20 a check up, but then again, they talk back….ha!

The big birthday surprise…when Jim got home yesterday, we left and headed to Tampa. 1st stop - the Hyatt in downtown Tampa! Apparently my mom had made the reservations for him so I wouldn’t see the charges and the confirmation was what was in the mysterious taped envelope. We checked in, and not too long after that, Shannon and Shane showed up and they had a room also. We set off walking, yes, WALKING and ended up at Channelside which is a shopping/restaurant area about 1 mile away…I was dying! It was so freaking hot out, and I was cursing Jim for not calling a cab. We walked to Stumps Supper Club. Actually, at this point, I was being dragged by the hand by Shane, and I was guessing we were late for our reservation. Lo and behold…we head to a table and there are 2 of my friends there with their husbands and another friend showed up soon after! Considering I had just emailed them earlier in the day to talk about my big surprise, I was VERY surprised to see them….LOL!!

We ate dinner and then had dinner and went to Howl at the Moon and drank too much and had a good time…at one point I had to go on stage to do a dirty version of the Hokey Pokey - apparently set up by my so called “friends”. Gee, thanks guys!! The dirty version of the HP involves such phrases as “Stick your boobies in, stick your tatas out, stick your funbags in and you shake ‘em all about…” LOL!

One of the friends and her dh gave us a ride back to the hotel and we all crashed and slept hard til 10am….I think I need a nap before my family b-day dinner at my moms house tonight!

My birthday is Thursday, but Jim’s working that weekend due to his inventory…

Last night when he got home he told me:

Tomorrow, pick up your neice, take her and the kids to your moms, and leave them there for a sleepover. Pack an overnight bag and be ready to leave by 6pm for your birthday surprise!

Whohoo! I love surprises, especially BIRTHDAY surprises.

The boy is starting golf lessons. It’s not so much a lesson…more like an informal class held at the local driving range. He LOVES to go there with Jim and the owner does a kids session on Saturday mornings - $10 a week. He’s been watching his sisters go off to girl scouts and dance and music lessons and choir for years, and now it’s his turn. He’s WAY excited, and asked Jim to take him to the driving range today. He’s been practicing putting too - my mom got him a little portable putting green for the yard and he entertains himself for hours or there messing with the darn thing!

Only 1 week til my birthday. Start shopping!

I’m going to the tea house with a bunch of girlfriends that weekend to celebrate. This weekend we’re doing a family dinner at my moms. Yep, it’s turning into a 2 or 3 week birthdat extravaganza!

Shane put my other curtains/rods up on Friday night. These went on the 2 windows in the LR, one huge window in the family room, and a regular sized window in the family room. On the big window, we still have to get the blinds for it to finish it.

Huge window:

I got Jim to watch the Hogan show on VH1 with me last night. He ended up liking it, and we both got a kick out of seeing all the local stuff. We were watching saying “ooh, Hogan’s at Quaker Steak! Look, his kids go to Clearwater Catholic School!”

Yes, we’re dorks.

I withdrew my children from their Catholic school this week. Other than preschool, it’s the only school they’ve ever attended, but unfortunately, the cost has gone up more than our incomes. We can still afford it at this point, but we’ve got a bit of sticker shock over the total this year and would rather move the kids when they’re still younger, instead of say, when our oldest hits middle school.

It’s going to be a switch for sure. No more waking my kids at 6am to get out of the house by 7am - the new school doesn’t even START til 9:30. No more trekking completely out of our way after work to pick them up - the new school is right around the corner from our house. I’m hoping they meet some more kids in the area too. In the 18 months we’ve lived in our house, we’ve only met 3 families close enough for the kiddos to play with. One of the kids is a heathen so it’s actually more like 2 families.

It’s going to be a bit switch for sure, but I’m really proud of my kids. They’re adapting to the change already and looking for the positives in going to a new school and they’re excited about the change.
