We’ve decided that since our soon to be 8 year old daughter is still sucking her thumb and shows no signs of stopping, we’re going to assist her. She’s been talked to by the dentist and knows it’s not what she should be doing, but she’s….shall we say…a stubborn child? She doesn’t just suck her thumb at bed time. She does it while she reads, watches TV, rides in the car…basically anytime she doesn’t need that hand!

I bought the stuff to paint on her thumb to make it taste bad. And oh my…the tears, the wailing, the tantrum! She was up 2 hours past her bed time last night crying about not being able to suck her thumb. She finally fell asleep on me, on the couch. I put her in bed and found her sucking her thumb this morning, so we repainted it.

Wish me luck. I think I’m going to need it.
