On our 2nd day of big mountain fun, we went to Grandfather Mountain, the highest peak in the area at 5700 feet or so. There’s a suspension bridge at the top we crossed and it was something like 7 degrees with the windchill. There was snow up there and icicles coming off the rocks. We had an icicle snack straight off the cliffside after we walked the bridge. (Which I attempted 2 times on my own and then Jim had to lead me across while I looked at my feet. My fear of heights was working overtime.)

Pictures in the extended entry!
