At long last, pictures and the tale of our vacation. (Pay no attention to dates on pictures - they’re all screwy!) We went with our friends Shane, Shannon, and their little boy. We (all 8 of us - 4 grown ups and 4 kids) took their SUV, with 2 cargo carriers on top. The boys drove through the night and it took us about 14 hours to get there from Florida. The kids were all VERY good for such a long ride. They relaxed a bit before going to sleep:

In the morning the smiles weren’t exactly forthcoming:

But they finally produced some:

Our first view of the mountains (technically foothills at this point):

And pictures of our cozy cabin:

Home sweet home for now:

I really should be in bed but yours is the first blog I have read and it is quite interesting. I wrote earlier regarding the eye glass insurance.

Now I’m curious about how one plans a ski trip, cabin and all. I would love information on this.

I have been to the area before (many years ago) and we found the cabin online and then just did the skiing part by ear. The problem at first was, no snow! Too warm to make snow even!! I bought ski bibs and snow boots on Ebay for us all before we left (Christmas presents) so we were prepared. Finally it was cold enough for snow making so we went to one of the local slopes I had reviewed online since it offered ski school for our kids. We went to the Boone, NC area. Lots of cabins, shopping, sites to see, skiing, etc.

[…] I was living it up on my ski vacation. WAH! I wish I was back in North Carolina right now. […]
