On the 3rd day, we took the whole family to the ski lodge.

The kids all took a 2 hour ski class which freed us up to do our own thing. My thing mainly consisted of trying to teach Jim to ski and watching him take spectacular wipeouts. I did great and didn’t fall down once :-) I was really impressed with the kids - most of all Matthew. I really thought he would wuss out after 20 minutes and start whining, but he was still skiing when his class was over and he was SO proud! It was great to see him so excited.

So…..

I had a dream that I hooked up with Snoop Dogg last night. And I wouldn’t blow him because I said “I don’t know where that things been!” but I wasn’t above giving him a hand job.

Must stop reading US Weekly at work.

On our 2nd day of big mountain fun, we went to Grandfather Mountain, the highest peak in the area at 5700 feet or so. There’s a suspension bridge at the top we crossed and it was something like 7 degrees with the windchill. There was snow up there and icicles coming off the rocks. We had an icicle snack straight off the cliffside after we walked the bridge. (Which I attempted 2 times on my own and then Jim had to lead me across while I looked at my feet. My fear of heights was working overtime.)

But at least THIS time I was singing along with OutKast (Hey Ya!), not the crap I was listening to last time.

At long last, pictures and the tale of our vacation. (Pay no attention to dates on pictures - they’re all screwy!) We went with our friends Shane, Shannon, and their little boy. We (all 8 of us - 4 grown ups and 4 kids) took their SUV, with 2 cargo carriers on top. The boys drove through the night and it took us about 14 hours to get there from Florida. The kids were all VERY good for such a long ride. They relaxed a bit before going to sleep:

In the morning the smiles weren’t exactly forthcoming:

But they finally produced some:

Our first view of the mountains (technically foothills at this point):

And pictures of our cozy cabin:

Home sweet home for now:

The view:

I know I promised vacation pictures a billion nights ago. I suck. I’ve got half the pictures (mine) on my PC and the rest (my friends) on my laptop and keep forgetting to get them both in one place so I can do this right.

Sorry!

I need another week off to recover from my week off! I don’t have my pictures ready yet, so tonight I’ll start sharing them with a day by day recap - I know everyone is hanging on the edge of their seats, right? RIGHT??

For now, I’ll just say we had tons of fun, minimal fighting between the children, and we all made it home without any broken bones from our winter sports. And we got to see real snow…yay!

We’re going to resemble the Griswald family with the SUV loaded with 4 adults, 4 kids, 2 car toppers, and 2 months worth of supplies. Tonight we head out for the mountains of North Carolina. The suitcases are packed, I’ve got my dog sitter (aka nephew) staying at our place to keep an eye on things, and I’m ready for some cold temps and hopefully snow!

Provided I can get online in the middle of nowhere, I’ll post an update or 2. Otherwise, I’ll see you next week! Til then, you can catch my latest posting at Tampa Bay DotMoms.

Behave!

Everyone in my company has to practically pass right down the “hallway” outside my cube’s half wall to get to the can. Today everyone is slowing down, and giving me a second glace. So I’m getting all paranoid - is my bra showing? Do I have lipstick on my teeth? Do they know I’m surfing porn?

Negative on all of those. They’re all reading the sign pimping the daughters girl scout cookies. The sign that yours truly put up last week, and promptly forgot about.

Silly me.
